Sunday, June 10th, 2007Attrition is the restrictionists’ fallback plan, a wishful equation that with enough enforcement, mass deportation will happen by itself: Misery plus time equals no more illegals. Small-bore ideologues in places like Hazleton, Pa., and Suffolk County, N.Y., have bought into this approach, adding layer on layer of hostile legislation to drive people out.
Other favorites are NARS Chinatown and OPI’s Romeo and Juliet and if you don’t want to break the bank try Tropez nail enamel in Black Satin or Black Radience in Black Licorice (available at Walgreens drugstores nationwide). I also love Essie nail enamel in Berry Hard or Revlon enamel in Vixen or Raisin Rage (Vixen is the Vamp knockoff!) Lastly if you are looking for a black polish on the cheap try NYX nails polish in Black 27.To make matters worse, I was talking to a friend’s mother this weekend (she is extremely overweight and I never asked about it but always assumed she had some kind of weight disorder) and she mentioned that after her first child she was trying to get pregnant for over Not every loan is a lån for deg

She also said the hormones ruined her skin and her hair. She was taking them for a few years with no result when she finally got pregnant with my friend but by that time she was so overweight that her period had almost stopped and she did not even realized she was pregnant until she was 7 months along. Very scary story… Just thinking that she got so overweight from the hormones terrifies me. Of course, that happened over 20 years ago but still…
Tips on making them look hot, not hellish? Keep nails super short (no long nails here girls otherwise you will look very halloweenish a la Elvira Mistress of the Dark which is a big fat aww hell naw. Also, make sure you fill in any chips immediately. Ensure they are super glossy with a good top coat over the polish every 2 to 3 days, I like Essie Topcoat Everyday.
The price of this strategy is high — far more government intrusion into daily lives, with exponential increases in workplace raids, detentions and deportations; continual ID checks for everyone, citizen or not; immigration police at the federal, state, county and local levels; bureaucrats and snoops keeping an eye on landlords, renters, laborers, loiterers and everyone who uses government services or gets sick. The strain on agriculture and service industries would be devastating. And all the things that everyone agrees are the perversities of the status quo — exploited workers, depressed wages, a huge undocumented population within our borders — would persist for an indefinite period until the last illegal immigrant goes home.
fructose
Sunday, June 10th, 2007
I’m learning that there are other reasons to avoid fructose. It is hypothesized that it’s a very “lipogenic” sugar, meaning that it easily creates fat. Furthermore, evidence supports the idea that fructose raises LDL levels. So you may want to avoid it if you have high cholesterol. (Fruits are very high in fructose. It’s ironic, isn’t it, that eating fruits can raise your cholesterol? Personally, my advice would be to eat fruits, but avoid high fructose corn syrup. That means cutting out non-diet sodas!) If you’re a diabetic, this all may be rather surprising, since historically diabetics have been counseled that fructose is superior to other sugars given its low glycemic index. However, that reasoning is being rethought given the potential of its deleterious effects.sub topic

I suppose that this is an appropriate time to say I’M NOT A DOCTOR (yet)! I’m just a first-year med student. So take everything I write with a grain of salt. And consult your own physician. Yada yada….
Heroes - Unexpected (1×16)Here’s a of a bag I made last weekend. Well, actually, it’s a close up shot that I took with my keychain camera, so PLEASE excuse the lo-res.
Here I am wearing a tank top (and matching belt) that were also made last weekend! I was on a roll! :))
Best episode in a long time and a fitting title for a show that just keeps giving us answers, as opposed to Lost, which just keeps giving us more questions. Claire’s mom continues to slide in and out of remembering things and ends up in the hospital, setting Claire off. Matt tells his wife about the diamonds and she tells him that some scientist named Mohinder has been calling. Sylar, pretending to be toaster-melter Zane, and Mohinder arrive in Montana to find a woman who can hear everything. And HRG convinces Isaac to help him track down Peter, catching him and Claude Raines on a rooftop
Ever heard of Bayes’ Theorem? It calculates the probability of a given event given the a priori occurrence of a related event. Wikipedia has a fine entry about it. Here’s an excerpt:

This has been one of the major line of attack against this film; that it portrays the Mesoamericans as bloodthirsty savages. First, I’m not certain if the critics actually saw the movie, since Gibson actually creates a fairly nuanced narrative amidst all the carnage.Keep commenting ladies!! What is your favorite lip gloss?? Second, the Mayans are portrayed as being more alien than barbarian, which to modern sensibilities, they undoubtedly were. The “happy tree hugger” image of the first Americans is both wrong and condescending. Third, by the standards of early 21st century America, the Mayans, Aztecs and so forth would appear to be brutal, even monstrous.

Kampala
Sunday, June 10th, 2007It’s not my lovely home in Kampala any longer, and sadly, it’s not found near the rolling grassy foothills of northern California (my childhood home) or the crashing ocean waves of southern California (Dwaine’s childhood home). We have lived in 8 homes in the past year (some for longer than others) You can understand why I might have difficulty with this word. For now, I have an address which I call home. Over the past year, I have learned how to create the feeling of home for my family no matter where we might reside. Peace in the midst of chaos.
Now that I - and every other citizen who is concerned about the future of the Republic - have been told by the President that my concern equals a lack of patriotism and bigotry towards people who are criminals (yep, I ‘m guilty; I don’t like criminals), I feel that the Administration has made a final break with the conservative coalition that saved this country in the waning years of the Cold War and set us on a path towards one of the most productive eras in our history.
I hope that once this President is out of office, we can rebuild an ideologically sound program that will get this country back on course - both at home and abroad - and will serve to keep the Democrats in check. For now, I guess we just have to hunker down and ride out this ongoing disaster.
Second, I have to define the word good. OK! Last Thursday, I purchased new service from Sprint at the Bristol Mall. Today, my phone wouldn’t work and I went by the store where I purchased it to have them “validate” the service since I’m not technologically literate. The manager there, asked me the last 4 digits of my SSN. I gave them to him. Then my service was interrupted and placed under a “shut-down”. Why, you may ask? Because when I bought the new service, I wrote my SSN on my application, provided my Drivers License, and then verbally gave the lady my SSN, she types something else in with 5 incorrect digits. Needlesstosay, the last 4 digits of my SSN I gave the manager today to “Are you going to låne penger

validate” my account were incorrect and caused the account to be placed under a ‘fraud” investigation. Hopefully on Monday, at 10:00am, Kristi can get it straightened out! HOW FREAKING ANNOYING! There is a lot that is really good about the US culture. The conveniences which I’ve found an all new appreciation for are drive through banking, mailboxes, consistent electricity, washers/dryers, dishwashers, clean tapwater, smooth roads and driving laws. The really good perks of living in the states are things like libraries, the plethora of playgrounds and safe walking trails/sidewalks around my home, local news and weather reports, well stocked grocery stores, and the never-to-be-taken-for-granted-again refillable diet soda with clean ice! Truly good is the (relatively) close proximity to family and the time that we’ve had with them this summer.
The wind blew
Sunday, June 10th, 2007A Perfect Day
November 2005
Yesterday was my perfect day. Quite by accident many of the things I love most serendipitously came together and worked their magic. A simple, sweet day that went a little like
this….
I woke to the sound of wind and rain. I knew sunshine was just behind those clouds. This was going to be a great day. After a hot cup of coffee and the morning breakfast show, I
started a pot of soup on the stove. The wind blew, the rain came down and the house smelled marvelous. Christmas music was playing, the boys were building together with LEGOS
and the house felt peaceful.
A much deserved thank you and shout out to the girls that kept the blog happening while I was off sunning myself.

It’s weird how in some industries it’s so difficult for women to have a family. She’s always been very modern and career-oriented and she did not plan to have babies before she was
35 but now she told me she is starting to want a baby and has been kind of sad recently. I told her about us trying to get pregnant and she told me that one of her friends just
started trying two months ago and is already prego. Damn it, seems like everyone else can get pregnant in a heartbeat.
Thank you ladies - you ROCK!!! If there is anything I can do for you in the future just ask!!!

Autumn Glow
As the week starts to wind down, I find I’m still thinking about moisturizers. My wonderful shea butter is very practical and I can’t get enough of it.
The WPost uses this to point out how many in the current generation of leaders excel in passing blame wherever they can. I assume the WPost is doing this as some sort of swipe at
the White House; however, whatever their motives may be - and certainly, my presumption that the WPost editorial board is Left-of-center is coloring my read - the point is a good
one, when applied to our leaders in toto. Whether political, economic, military or cultural, those we look to for leadership seem intent on never accepting responsibility. Or, if they do,
it is in the blandest, most general terms.
Once the wind and rain let up we were ready to hit the road. It takes us a mere 10 minutes to get into the heart of downtown D.C. One of my all-time favorite things to do with the
boys is to set them free to run on the immense grassy area and pathways between the Washington Monument and the Capitol building (called The Mall). The Mall is flanked on both
sides by the Smithsonian buildings. We took a long walk and when it began to rain we ducked into the Air and Space Museum (a personal favorite for Connor and Erik). To top it all off
we wandered down to the Reflecting Pool at the stairs of the Capitol where the boys gleefully chased away birds.
